Helvellyn

Every summer, we meet up with the Bains, for a joint family holiday; hiking, playing games, and drinking too much wine. In 2021, it was the Lake District. Duncan and I climbed Helvellyn, via Striding Edge, which was a first for me. Not as scary as I expected; all this coastal walking must be giving me a head for cliff edges. We set off at dawn and had the mountain almost to ourselves. Gorgeous weather, stunning views, and great company.

I think I will add the Hewitts to my bucket list, being “Hills in England, Wales and Ireland over 2,000 feet, with a prominence above 98 feet”. Helvellyn is ranked #20 at 3,117 feet. Only another 523 to climb!

Yes, as Duncan said, I am standing on a rock!
